Action Items

  • Individual Check-ins: Normally in June, I schedule individual chats with folks to reflect on the year and help to formally conclude the academic year. I would love to chat with any of you on Thursday or Friday of in-service if you have the time or the desire to. I am also aware that you have a lot happening, so if you would rather simply let me know your feelings via Google Form, that's OK too! I will send out a form this week. Otherwise, please reach out with a day and time we can connect about the following:
    • Reflection on Virtual MS - what went well, what should we reflect on and change for next year IF this was to happen again.
    • PD - any professional development that you are interested in competing in the summer or early at the start of next year?
    • What's next for you? Are their changes ahead that you would like to see for you in your teaching or professional growth next year? Would you be open to changing what you teach or the grade(s)? Are you looking for more experience or opportunities in other fields such as leadership opportunities or diving deeper into your subject content?
    • What can I and/or the school as a whole do to support you next year? Big open-ended question that is asking you to be honest and frank.
  • Cleaning and organizing classrooms: Please sign up for a day that you would like to come in and organize your classroom. We are coordinating with LS to ensure that there are only a limited number of people on campus each day and we can maintain social distancing. When you look at the document, if there are already three MS faculty listed for that day, please select another. Camp is not starting until at least July. If you would rather come in that week after school has ended, that is also an option.
  • Units & Unit Overview: Please use the time normally designated for our Faculty Meeting, to work on units and the unit overview document. Angelica and I will be available if you need help or support.
  • Leaving this year? If you are moving on this year, please make sure to connect with Angelica to review your units to ensure a smooth transition to the next teacher. Thank you for your help in making the transition for those incoming teachers easier!

Changes to the Week Ahead, Updates, & Reminders

  • Planning Committees for 2020-21: I know you all need a break, but I want to also give you the opportunity to be as involved as much as you would like regarding planning for next year. Look out for an email from me with specifics about how we will do this early next week.
  • End of Year Checklist: Please have these items completed before you depart for the summer on June 12.
  • Subject Meetings: Thank you all for jumping in and reflecting on your ATL skills. Here is the ATL document that was shared at the meetings. If you need any additional help, please connect with Angelica or me.
  • Advisor Reports: Shelli has kindly created exemplars for you to reflect on. A reminder that all classes will end on Friday, June 5. Tuesday, June 9, will be designated for advisors to have individual meetings with each of your advisees so that you can discuss the highs and lows of the year, review the summer work, and ensure that each student has all they need to continue their growth over the summer. These discussions should help you write your reports and be between 10-15 minutes.

Microsoft Teams Tips and Updates

  • As always, please remember to visit the AWS Technology Resources document frequently. There are a whole bunch of new resources shared by YOU all. Take a peek.

Updates from Sandra Bush

  • Sometimes, the most effective professional development advice I can come up with is to stop, take a deep breath, take care of yourself. Soon, I will share the list of books, movies, shows, podcasts, articles the DEI group would love for you to consider and engage this summer.
  • The list of PD opportunities and resources continues to be updated if you wish.
