Week Beginning November 1, 2021


Considering the issues we have been dealing with MS social media usage and the fact it is almost Halloween, this post seemed too good not to post! Happy trick or treating, team!

  • CONFERENCES: If any issues are raised? Please add these to the GLTM documents to discuss this week. 

  • SOFTWARE SERVICES: Please complete this form for the Tech Team so they can track what products and services. This will help MS ALOT, so please be honest and do this before November 19. https://form.jotform.com/212974941138058.
  • STUDENT SIGNATURES: We are noticing that many student email signatures are not correct with the wrong sections. Advisors, please ask students to check this and alter it as needed. Here are the directions EMAIL SIGNATURE SET UP DIRECTIONS

    Changes to the Week Ahead, Updates, & Reminders

    • Advisory & Character Strong: 
      • PAUSE ON CS this week for all grades
      • Email signature updates
      • Review the dance expectations following MS Gathering - how to ask and refuse. 
    • Section Changes: At this time, we have decided to postpone making any major changes to the sections in any grades. We will reconsider this at the end of the semester when the grade books are less impacted. 
    • New software requests (from the tech team): For NEW REQUESTS of something that’s desired to be implemented, please visit the helpdesk.aw.org and create a ticket of type Technology for Approval. (type subject to change as we may think of something better to call it). 
    • Discord Issues: If you would like to read and review the email sent to the 7th-grade families today, please see here.  
    • Sub Directions: Just keeping you all in the loop. If you want to see the directions and expectations that we give to our subs who are covering for you, please review this document. We provide a binder with the schedule timings of the day, a copy of the Ten Essentials, the Emergency Flip Chart, an attendance sheet, and your sub plans also. Any other suggestions to help our folks? They did get to read and sign off on the same handbook that we all do, although that is a lot to remember!

    Happy (almost) Halloween! 
    A reminder that coffee and delicious treats will be shared on Friday to help you navigate Conference Day!


    Action Items

    • ATTENDANCE CHANGES: We are having issues with students NOT going to ED when they are meant to be and this is causing the ED staff a lot of issues. It would help them to know who SHOULD be present in ED. So, advisors, when you take attendance, please also ask if they will be in ED at any point after school. If they are, please select Present-After School Activity. Sorry for the added ask :-)

    • TODDLE TRIAL:  If you are interested in helping piloting Toddle, the potentially new grading, reporting, and unit planning platform, please email Clare ASAP. If you would like to chat more about this, please reach out to Bri or Clare. This will be approximately a 6-8 week pilot to better understand if it meets our needs. Your input and evaluation of this product will be essential. Thanks in advance. 
    • COMMUNITY PROJECT MENTOR: Please sign up for a group to support! Here is the list of students and projects. If you wanted to review the role of a mentor, take a look at this document. 
    • SUNSHINE TRACKER: As we mentioned at the MS Faculty Meeting this week, here is the Sunshine Tracker document to see who you have sent sunshine notes to so far this year. A reminder that it does not list students you have NOT sent them too. This data will always be one day behind. 
    • POCC: If you are interested in attending, please see the most recent Staffulty. 
    • Community Engagement Team: The Community Engagement Team (Alicia, Annie, Dimpy, Mike, and Dubois) have been tasked with cataloging and identifying the communities that work with Annie Wright. This information will be organized and then presented to the board and the Annie Wright community. Please be specific in the details about the organization and contact. Our goal is to keep these relationships with the community strong and consistent so that they may continue. Please submit one for each organization. Examples: Field trips, volunteers, venues, equipment purchase (local only), guest speaker, etc. (If you have more than one organization, please resubmit the form).         • Clubs NOT OCCURRING THIS WEEK. Please use this time for advisory. Shelli posted some potential game supplies below or maybe it's time for a dance party on the Commons! Maybe this might be a good time to do some progress checks with your students ahead of conferences at the end of the month? Don't forget, CS has plenty of ideas too.

        • Varsity Girls' Volleyball has an early dismissal at 2:50 PM.

          • Math Department presentation of the math scope and sequence over MS and beyond.

          • Breakout rooms will follow for families to connect with subject departments. You will not need to present anything; simply be present to connect with families about your subject.
