I totally stole this from the MYP Coordinators FB page, but when I read it I thought of you all. Thank you for all the things you do, above and beyond the ones listed above.

- New:
- MYP To-Do List: Based on Angelica's email last week, here is the document version of the list of items to complete in the coming weeks. During PD day, time not in assigned meetings can be spent on this to-do list. Clare and Angelica will be available for help as needed too.
- Continuing:
- MYP Action Plan: A reminder that as you meet with your subject groups, please review your MYP Goals as a department. You can see the ones set in 17/18 and a tab for 20/21 for you to add to. Please see Angelica if you have questions about this. Subject goals should be added by 03.18.21, please!
- MYP Rubrics & Samples of Student Work: If you have not yet submitted your rubrics for your semester 2 units you are currently working on, please connect with Angelica ASAP. You can submit your rubric copies here. As you finish a summative, please select 3 - 4 samples to add to the folder too.
- Standardization of names for Summative Assessments: In an effort to avoid having to hand-enter all of our summative scores for each criterion at the end of the semester, we need to standardize our practice of titling those assignments in myAW. That standardization will allow Ruth to pull all of our scores automatically.
- So, here is what we need to do. When we are titling our summative assessments in myAW, they must start as follows:
- Criterion A – Miracle Worker Summative Assessment
- Criterion D – Genetics Research Summative Assessment
- The two key elements of this process are:
- Starting with the specific criterion you’ll be assessing
- Putting a space both before AND AFTER the letter of the criterion being assessed.
- Summative Assessment Schedule: Please add any summative assessments you are planning in giving here in this doc. This will help us track work and avoid our students becoming overwhelmed. Please try not to add a summative to a day where there are already two due.
- Sunshine Notes: Please attempt to send 2 sunshine notes each day this week. Please review the list of Sunshine & PC recipients but remember that this data is not automatically updated once a note is sent.
Changes to the Week Ahead, Updates, & Reminders
- New student in 6th Grade: We have a new student, Lea Brine-Ringeval, joining 6th grade on March 19 (PLEASE NOTE THIS IS LATER DATE THAN STATED LAST WEEK). Those teachers affected should have received an email with specific details.
- Cell Phones: A reminder was added to the Friday Flash about cell phone usage and our MS policy. PLEASE remind your students about this. The 7th grade seems to be pushing these boundaries a lot recently. Thanks for your help.
- Return in Full After Spring Break: Should we continue with no cases of COVID in MS & US, Jake anticipates sending out in his Wednesday communication that we will return in full after the break. Thank you for checking over the schedule and there still are a few issues to iron out so things may change again. I hope to be able to have the schedule, rooms, duties all finalized by our faculty meeting on Friday. Thank you for your understanding.

- We have Title IIA and Title IVA funding available as well as some PD money to help support you in your PD goals. I will continue to look for ways in the coming weeks to reach out to you all more directly to see how I can best support you in this space. In the meantime, the PD and DEI Resources pages continue to be updated.
- Have Kudos to give for a colleague? Please let us know here, we'd love to shower some praise!
- I'm going to give a new QOTW a try: What keeps you up at night? (the link for the admiration word cloud remains active! 🙂)
Kudos
- I think we can all agree that Saturday was a strange and wonderful day for all those participating in the vaccinations at AWS. A huge thanks to Sandra, Paula, Sarah, Annie, Mike, Mark, and the medical professionals who organized this event and took such great care of us all. Saturday was a historic moment in time that I know is burnt into my memory, as I am sure it will be for many who also attended.
- To Kyle for making it back to campus and still having such a peppy upbeat personality even after surgery. Kyle live-streamed in from his sofa early last week for our Humanities teacher interviews last week; not wanting to miss a beat! He also continued to take many of his classes from home with help from Alexis and then returned in person at the end of the week. I know we can all offer our kudos to Kyle for his dedication to the school and also a continued speedy recovery. Welcome back, Kyle!
- To Will and Tracey, for leading the two-day Student Diversity Leadership Retreat with our 10 MS students. The extra time, effort, and just pure enthusiasm for this was impressive and I personally can't thank them enough for going that extra mile to support our kiddos in this endeavor. More news to follow in Chapel on how this retreat will continue to impact our community in such a positive way.
- To anyone associated with the continuing issues with the sewer pipe affecting MS. Thank you for remaining positive and being proactive when these repeated issues have occurred. I know it's a nasty problem and Mark and his team have outside professionals on this. Thank you for being flexible with your room changes and just going with the flow so to speak!
- Poor Anelisa was out sick three days this week, so Ruth has been doing double duty covering Anelisa's position, while also carrying on her own duties and responsibilities. Hopefully, Anelisa is back on Monday, and normality returns, but a big thanks to Ruth for her positivity in doing this and remaining such a rock in our community. Thanks also to the Grade 7 team for jumping in and helping with the snack and lunch duties this week. We were very stretched and your help was essential.
