Week Beginning May 11, 2026

Please take a minute to stop and look at the comparative analysis that Grade 6 did with Victoria on two books they recently read. The artwork and reflections are truly wonderful!

 ACTION ITEMS

  • Habit Scores: Please add your Habit scores to the following sheets. We will discuss these during the GLTM that week.
  • Course Reflections: To make this easier for teachers this semester, each of you will receive your own personalized survey with all your classes listed (except 6th Toolbox, 7th Milk Boats, 7th Art, all free reads, and OH, which will not be officially surveyed by this method, but feel free to reflect with your class personally if you teach one of these). I hope this makes it more straightforward for you to distribute and walk your kids through. Please look at the dates available to administer the reflections and add your classes to this sheet: Course Reflection Dates Semester 2 - 25-26. You will also find your personalized link here.
  • End of Year Award Nominations Survey: Please complete this survey for the Learner Profile Attribute awards (all grades) and the Grade 8 specific awards. All MS faculty and staff are invited to give their nominations for all awards if they would like to. Nominations are due by the end of the day on Friday, May 15.
  • Thrivability Surveys: These surveys start this coming week in Advisory. The slides are almost identical to those from semester 1. Please ensure everyone in your advisory understands the question and completes the questions in myAW.

FYI
  • Special Schedule: Same schedule as our last few MainStage previews. Core classes now last 55 minutes, and Office Hours occur before lunch. Thank you all for your help with this.
  • PD Muckleshoot Tribal College Effective Teaching Institute: The Conference will be from June 23 - 25th 2026. This Institute will share cultural insights, examples, models, and hands-on experiences for those looking to strengthen their approaches to working with Native students. This Institute is geared toward teachers, professors, and administrators seeking culturally relevant ways to work with local Tribes in Washington State. If you are interested in attending, please complete this Google Form ASAP. Registration closes June 12.
  • Access AWS Webapp: Access will end for all students at the end of July, so that Erik can get everything ready for the next school year. In the MS Summer Work, we have already added a note that access to the Spanish and Math books will end at this time, so I don’t think it impacts anyone else; I just wanted you all to know.

ACTION ITEMS

  • Journey To-Do List: While most of us are gone on the Journey trips, Beau, Ruth, Andrea, Sophie, and Jessica will be here on campus. If there are things that these folks can do to help you, please let me know, and we can add to their to-do list.

FYI
  • Grade 6 Field Trip: Please see this sheet for information about the Grade 6 field trip, which will take place from 12:30 - 3:20 pm on Friday. Tracey, Linh, Will, and Victoria will be off-campus with Grade 6; we need to rework club coverage. The following are the coverage changes - if you do not see your name, assume you are covering the same club you normally do:

Cantor - Robotics and Coding in Will’s lab
Iwamoto - Sunshine Club in Cantor’s room
Voskuhl - Math Counts in Phan’s room
Parker - Knitting and Crochet in Dunbry’s room
Satgunasingam - Jewelry Making in Kelly’s room
  • Recording Studio: If your students need a quiet spot to record, please let them know that usage of the recording studio is off-limits unless it is arranged in advance through Annie Green. Shelli is happy to work with Annie if MS teachers would like the option for students, but individual MS students should not be asking for its immediate use. If you are an advisor, could you please also remind your advisees that if they need a space open, they should ask a middle school faculty member, not teachers from other divisions.
  • Slides: While the patio is open, Jake is still waiting to ensure the safety of the slides. These remain closed for now.
