Action Items
- Blinds: Following up from the last LOCKOUT drill, if you are missing external blinds please let me know. So far I know of:
- Science Lab (Taylor)
- Brown's room (unable to reach blinds to close them)
- Homework over break: Please don't set new homework over the break. I have noticed that there a few students who have received recent Grades of Concerns emails, and of course, they will need to catch up on late work, etc. For all others, this time should be for rest and relaxation. The end of the semester is fast approaching which will bring with it enough stress without additional homework over winter break. Thank you for your support with this.
- Assignments for the end of the semester: As we touched on at the last Grade Level Team meeting, many of you will be giving summative assessments as we reach the end of the semester. Please be considerate of not overstretching and stressing our kids. It would be very helpful for you to communicate if you are having your class take a test or complete a big project etc. and let other teachers see your deadline. Please add to the document End of Semester Summative and Finals Schedule 2020, so that we can track this. It is not ideal to have more than two major things due on the same day, so if you can look at this table and be aware of what others are assigning, this would be very helpful. Please complete this table before the Winter Break to ensure that we can all plan how best to support our MS kiddos.
- Attendance: Anleisa needs our help! We have been using SchoolPass for our bus system but as of last week, it is no more. This now makes the bus attendance even more confusing. You will have seen the email from Anelisa asking for the additional notes regarding if a student is taking the ACTIVITY BUS and which one COSTCO or BDPR. If you can add this information for morning advisory attendance, that would be super helpful. Thank you!
- Holiday Party: Just a reminder to connect with Erin about if you will be able to attend. It's actually a lovely way to end the year and partners are invited. The start time is 6pm. The end time is.....
Changes to the Week Ahead, Updates, & Reminders
- New Student: Victor (Phatraphum) Sirpanich will be joining our MS starting Jan 21, the start of second semester. You will see his name already appear already on the 6th grade page on myAW, although he will not appear on your attendance until his start date. Victor will be joining Tracey's advisory and 6B as he will be in ESL and General Music. Below is a brief overview of Victor and his background:
His brother Wynn is a student at UWT, living in an apt near the campus where Victor will live as well. Victor will ride the school bus. Parents travel a lot and will visit with some frequency. Victor himself has traveled to many countries with his family, Japan being his favorite so far.
Wynn has taken on quite the parenting role already and has a study and outdoor activity plan for our new student. He is very responsive via email!
