      • New:
        • Spirit Week Photos: If you have any photos of your students from last week, please add them to Vidigami. There is a folder already created called Spirit Week 2021. Thank you!
        • Please update your Tracking Spreadsheet so Shelli can tally how many points advisories earned during Spirit Week. All of 6th Grade is finished and updated, but some folks in 7th and 8th have not. Thanks!
      • Continuing:
        • Please review the tabs on the 2020-21 MS Schedule for the following special dates. Please let Ruth and me know if you see any issues:
          • June 2 - 6th Math
          • June 9 - 8th Field Day
          • June 10 - 7th and 8th Math Final
          • June 14 - 8th Spanish Final & 6th Field Day
          • June 15 - 8th Chapel, 8th Retreat, 7th Field Day
        • Faculty End of Year Checklist: No rush on all of these. This is the list of things MS faculty should attempt to check off before they leave for the summer that includes an End of Year Exit Check-In Survey. If you would rather meet in person or via Teams, please just complete the first three questions, the rest we can chat about in person. If you did want to chat in person, please complete those first three questions ASAP so that we can find a convenient time to meet.
        • Sunshine Notes: Please attempt to send 2 sunshine notes this week. Please review the list of Sunshine & PC recipients but remember that this data is not automatically updated once a note is sent.

Changes to the Week Ahead, Updates, & Reminders
      • Eireann and Jeremy are hoping to connect with the 7th grade to loop them in on what's coming up next year and the process for HS. This should not take the whole advisory period.
      • All the End of Year Events can be found on this document. Please review as needed. This was sent to all the MS families last week.
      • All School Orchestra: There will be a short all-school performance for students in Strings (6 & 7) and MS Orchestra on Thursday, June 3, 8:00 - 8:15 am. More details to come from Stuart but no need for others to attend.
      • Milk Boats: The 7th and 8th grade will not have regular classes that day and will instead be in the Kemper, pool, and gyms. Once the Design team has a schedule of events with the timings, we will loop you all in. Please know that if you would normally teach that day, that the expectation will be that you will also be in support during those times.

      Sandra's PD Corner
Thank you to all of you who filled out the leadership survey - and to those of you still thinking, considering, and wondering - no worries, much more to come, and many opportunities available at many levels next year and beyond. To those of you who expressed interest in working groups and other areas, please stay tuned: I hope to be in touch later this week on a variety of these.

As always, if you have a suggestion for PD that you think might be interesting or you are looking for a particular TYPE of PD and wish for some targeted outreach, let me know here! Link is also in the Idea Box in the F&S Teams along with the PD and DEI Resource page links.

We'd love to close out the year with some Kudos to any and all you wish to recognize. Please submit those here. As always, we'd love to shower some praise on our colleagues and community members - especially now as the year winds down.

This week begins (Sat 22 at sundown) with the Declaration of the Báb (Baha'i), and Pentecost (Christian) on Sunday, May 23. On Wednesday is Vesak - Buddha Day (Buddhism) and the weekends with the remembrance of the signing of the Indian Removal Act on May 28, 1830. This Act was the beginning of the Trail of Tears.  I encourage you to read this column from 2018 by Robert Warrior (Osage) about the importance of remembering and memorializing this tragic event in history.

Have I mentioned? (I have, but I'll remind you! 😉): Did you know there are 21 Questions of the Week? Thank you to those of you who have added some answers recently!! I'm working on prizes....  for June. Trivia. Prizes. 26 Days!  Would love to have more to work with!!

      Kudos

      • Once again, Coach Nate has been recognized for his amazing coaching skills in Tennis and has been named the Nisqually League Tennis Coach of the Year, now also for the girls! Way to go, Nate, and sorry this is a week late :-)
      • All those who participated in Spirit Day, a BIG thank you. Everyone was very creative and I know the kids appreciated seeing the grownups in their lives joining in.

      • To all those who attended the Grading Discussion, thank you. I know being asked to give even an ounce extra at this time of year is tough, but thank you. The feedback we get now will help us ensure that next year is even better and supports every subject and each student's growth. If you were not able to attend and would like to, this conversation is continuing on Tuesday at the end of the day in the MS Lounge/Dimpy's classroom.
