Week Beginning September 9, 2024

 

The first partial week of regular classes is done! We have two more advisory activities planned by Dave, Kerrin, Katie, and Will, happening this week. A reminder to refer to the Community Circle ABCD poster for these activities. If you need one, there are spares in the MS Office. 

ACTION ITEMS

  • Learning Experiences added to Toddle: Did you add one for each class you taught this past week? If not, please reach out to Shelli, Clare, Kelly, or Ruth for help and advice as to how you might do this. A reminder that this is a great time to test the system. Don't be shy and have a go! 
  • Advisory Phone Calls: To help us track who you have called and spoken to, on the GLTM docs there is a new column that asks you to add a selection from a dropdown menu. If you can fill this in for your kiddos that would be great and should take just a few seconds to complete.
  • Feedback on Orientation: We know the food was iffy and that some of the staff were not as friendly and engaging as in the past, but what other things do we need to reflect on for next year? Please complete this SHORT Google Form so we can capture your ideas and suggestions to help improve next year's experience. 
  • Check-In Appointment with Clare: Connect with Ruth to set up a 30-minute chat with Clare to discuss the year ahead. Thanks to the folks who have already done this! 
  • Curriculum Night this TUESDAY: A reminder to set up your room and have a few artifacts/books/examples of work, etc. for families to look at when they walk around the MS. Please remember your name tag for this evening event and be back on campus no later than 5:45 pm. 

FYI
  • Advisory Documents/Forms: Any form or document that we are asking students to complete as part of advisory, will be posted for you in Toddle. This includes the weekly reflections that will be done on Monday after All School chapel. You won't see them in Toddle until just before they are needed, but they are there! 
  • MS Faculty Meeting Slides: If you were absent from the meeting on Wednesday, please review the slide and let me know if you have any questions. 
  • Popping in and out of classes: Starting next week, Kelly and I will be in and out of classes to get a sense of what you are all doing and see the kids in action. If there is something you would love us to see, please send us an email so we can do our best to stop by. It is likely that for the next couple of weeks, these will be short and sweet visits, with longer ones occurring as part of the PGE cycle later in the quarter. More to come on that soon!

TODDLE TIPS & TRICKS

Woohoo, we made it through our first week with students and with Toddle! Read a quick update below on some common issues we fielded.

  1. We had several issues this week with folks seeing assignments for multiple sections within the gradebook for one class (i.e. When Kelly wanted to see the gradebook just for IS 6A, she could also see everything for 6B and 6C as well). This seems to have been related to issues with the demo students who were still rostered into classes and has resolved now that the demo students have been deleted from your classes (thanks, Ruth!). However, if you're still having issues, you can see instructions for how to fix it here.

  1. A reminder that once you post an assignment, your changes to one section do NOT automatically apply to other sections. For example, before I post an assignment, I can make adjustments that automatically take hold in all three sections. However, after I post an assignment, I have to go into each section individually to make changes.
