Goal Setting
Please start to think about your two goals for the year. Goal Setting Template is here. Please copy and save your own copy in Google Drive. Neil has created personal folders for all your PD work that need a few tweaks on Monday before he re-sends the link. Please have your goals complete and in the assigned Google folder by 8am Monday, October 8. I hope to meet with everyone during the two weeks after. If you need any help with this, please reach out.Recognitions
All Grade Levels this week for the Learner Profile INQUIRER. Please add them to this doc Recognition Awards.Finals
Back in April, we had an in depth discussion about finals in MS. Here are the notes from that meeting, please reread over these as I would like to continue this discussion at the next MS Faculty meeting on Thursday, October 4.Waiver @ 2:10pm
To help monitor the large number of students in Waiver, we are looking at changing the location for this starting on Monday. I will confirm via email to all faculty where that location is on Monday morning. Shelli will kindly add this to the Advisory Slides and I will email the students this directly affects.Positive Communication
If you haven’t yet sent a positive email or made a happy call, please try to make this a goal to do one this week. These types of communication go along way to helping build community. Thank you!Dance Duty Switch
Ann Marie would like to switch her dance duty from October 19. If anyone would be willing to do so, please reach out to her. Thank you.Changes to the Week Ahead
Construction Site Tour
On Tuesday and Thursday, Christian will be touring groups of Grade 8 students around the construction site. While this cuts into Chapel (the boys) and Long Advisory (the girls), these are the only times that will work. There will be two time slots 10-10:25am and 10:25-10:50am. My apologies as this may run into the next period slightly. I oversee this and let the Grade 8 know. Here is a link to who is in which tour - Construction Site Tour
Updates & Reminders
MI & RI Testing
These tests should be complete next week. While we did not last September, the results for these will be on myAW by the end of the week. Information regarding these results was sent in the MS Flash this week.References
Thank you for the questions regarding this during the MS Faculty Meeting. To clarify, the references I was referring to for students are if they are no longer at our school and it requires specifics relating to their educational experience at AWS. You are welcome to give personal recommendations for clubs etc.References for previous employees that refer to their time at AWS must go through Christian for approval.
Journey Chaperons
The Journey leaders and I met this week and the following chaperones were confirmed:Grade 6: Strate, Castro, Hartmann, Hulseman, Phan
Grade 7: Price, Drown, Genco, McConnell
Grade 8: Hunt, Calcote, Leenstra, Taylor, Wagstaff
We have managed to secure an additional chaperone spot for Grade 8. Should numbers increase in other grades over the course of the year, we will relook at the number of chaperones assigned to that grade. Thank you all for being flexible.
The medical professional accompanying each grade has yet to be decided. An announcement for those interested to contact me will be sent in the MS Flash next week.
Sports dismissal
A reminder that tennis students are the only ones who should be leaving PM Advisory at 2:10pm. Changing should occur at lunch if they need the extra time.Calendar of Reporting 18-19
Here is the link to this year reporting schedule. Reminders will of course come in this blog as we approach deadlines and due dates.Reporting Schedule for 19-20
As we discussed at the MS Faculty Meeting, this is the structure that we have decided on for 19-20 year. Subject and Advisor reports will switch dates and Conference Days will now be out of sync with LS. This proposal will be brought to STL on Monday.- End of Quarter 1 - Subject Specific Reports: Strengths and Goals
- Middle of Quarter 2 - Advisory Fall (winter) Conference: Implementation of specific feedback (Friday, Dec 6th)
- End of Semester 1 - Advisors Progress Reports: Summary of Semester
- End of Quarter 3 - Subject Specific Reports: Strengths and Goals
- Middle of Quarter 4 - Advisory Spring Conference:Implementation of specific feedback (Friday, April 24)
- End of Semester 2 - Advisors Progress Reports: Summary of year; goals for the summer
Athletic Games
While we love the fact that students in ED, Waiver, or other Athletic selections want to watch and support our teams, they MUST stay in their assigned classes until the end of the day. After school games are up to the discretion of the ED Staff. Students cannot attend games after 3:10pm without direct supervision from the ED Staff. Please ask all non-team students to return to ED if you see them unsupervised. Alicia is very on the ball about this but needs our help.Upcoming Meetings
