Action Items
  • As Sandra asked in her email on Friday, if you have any reflections you would like to share, please add your notes to this folder. I would also love to hear any insights or takeaways from the day. Please feel free to stop by a chat, otherwise, this might be a great lunch table conversation with more of us present.
  • Curriculum Night Feedback: If you haven't given your feedback on the Curriculum Nights, please complete this Google Form so that we can use your feedback to improve next year.
  • Subject Reports: A reminder that we will be writing subject narratives at the end of Quarter 1, not the end of the semester. This is a change to previous years and so the MS Leadership have been taking a careful look at the structure of the reports to ensure that they are purposeful and useful. An essential component of this will be setting specific goals for your students and you may wish to start thinking about this. Please take a look at the document linked and we will be meeting on Thursday, October 31 to review the specifics of this. The following dates may also be helpful.
    • Subject Overview: 8am Friday, October 25, 2019
    • Subject Narrative due: 8am Friday, November 8, 2019
    • Reports posted: 3pm Friday, November 15, 2019

Changes to the Week Ahead, Updates, & Reminders
  • Gizmos: We are getting a free 75-day trial of Gizmos from Explore Learning. This online program has an archive of interactive math and science simulations aligned to a variety of topics and CC and NGSS standards. Will has been using this for a number of years at his former school in math and science grades 3-8, and he is keen to explore our possible interest here at AWS. If you are interested, please let me know so that we can include you in the training and initial trial.
  • Meetings: I know we have a lot of meetings planned specifically for MS. Please look at this schedule so that you are aware of the dates. The MYP Self Study does have meetings that span both Thursdays and Mondays, so please take a careful look and Angelica will also send email reminders as necessary.
  • MS Dance on Friday 7-10pm: Just a reminder that Shelli, Angelica, Sam, Alice, Mark and I will be chaperoning the dance on Friday. Please be at the Great Hall no later than 6:45pm. If you are staying on campus and would like to stay for dinner (6pm), please let me know so I can let Stephanie and her team know.

Absent Students

Kudos!
  • To all those folks who worked behind the scenes to make the Fall Educators event such a hit. If you see Mark, Chuck, or Stephanie, please make sure to thank them for their added hard work last week, before and after the event. Also to our own John and Kyle for presenting. I heard great things that there was a big turn out to their Design slot and that it was very well received.
