A comparison study between the movie and book versions of Wonder led to blankets, stuffies, and cookies while watching part of the film today in Victoria's class. They were exceptionally cute and VERY excited!
ACTION ITEMS
- Missing Work: We need help to ensure that the missing assignment report we run very week is accurate. We will remind the students about this on Monday during Gathering about their role, but we also need your assistance.
- Student Expectations:
- Before 3:20 pm on Thursday, submit missing work AND email the teacher to ensure credit is given on Friday.
- Before 1:35 pm on Monday, submit missing work completed over the weekend AND email the teacher to ensure credit is given. After this time, we will be calling parents to let them know what has or has not been completed.
- Teacher Expectations:
- Before 8:30 am on Friday, please remove the zeros for any missing work submitted before 3:20pm on Thursday.
- Before 8:30 am on Tuesday, please remove the zeros for any missing work submitted before 1:35 pm on Monday.
- When you assign Homework... For these next few weeks until Spring Break, we need your help ensuring students write their homework in their planners. With the confusion of opening/closing assignments, some students do not see the zeros in Toddle, so do not know if they have a missing assignment. If students are using their planner, they should know what has been submitted and what has not been, as it will not be crossed out!
- Door Decorations: If your advisory still has their door decorations up, please take them down this week. Thank you!
- Conference Prep: This will start in advisory this week. Please see the action items from last week with the links to all the documents advisors will need.
FYI
- Journey Forms: These will go live in myAW next Friday and I will mention this in the Friday Flash next week. The Journey leaders will review these forms with families at the Journey meeting on Tuesday, March 18. If you or a parent have questions about them, please direct folks to Ruth, who is overseeing all these pieces. Thank you, Ruth!
- FCD on Friday: As part of our commitment to prevention and wellness, we have invited a prevention specialist from Prevention Solutions within the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation to provide an alcohol, nicotine, and other drug education workshop for Grades 6-8 on Friday, March 14, 2025. This event was rescheduled to March 14 from February 6th due to facilitator availability. The timing of these sessions is a bit tricky because they straddle our regular schedule. Note that we will NOT hold Clubs/Catch-Up Club on March 14 due to these presentations. Instead, students in Grades 7 and 8 will be in ADVISORIES from 2:35-3:20 and students in Grade 6 will attend their presentation. See below for your Grade:
- Grade 7- Students will need to leave lunch at 12:55 so that they can arrive at the Kemper Theater promptly by 1:00 PM. Seating is by advisory. At the conclusion of their workshop, students should make their way to Art, and then they will head to ADVISORIES at 2:35. The following teachers should attend the presentation to supervise: PASTORE, PRICE, PARKER, DODGE, and FIRE.
- Grade 8 - All students should depart P5 Flex at 1:40 and arrive at Kemper Theater at 1:45 PM. Note that Grade 7 will be departing at the same time, so Grade 8 should wait in the Kemper Lobby and clear the way for Grade 7 to exit. After Grade 7 is out of the theater, Grade 8 should filter in and take a seat by advisory. At the conclusion of their workshop, they should be released to break, and then they will head to ADVISORIES at 2:35. The following teachers should attend the presentation to supervise: PASTORE, DUNBRY, DEMARAIS, WOOD, and MILLER.
- Grade 6 - All students should head down to the Kemper at 2:25 so that they can arrive at the Kemper Theater at 2:30 PM. Note that Grade 8 will be departing, so Grade 6 should wait in the Kemper Lobby and clear the way for Grade 8 to exit. After they fully exit, Grade 6 should filter in and sit by advisory. The following teachers should attend the presentation to supervise: WILDE, PHAN, GOLDING, WARD and KELLY
TODDLE TIPS & TRICKS
Missing Assignments: Team, this may sound like a broken record at this point, but please make sure that, if there are missing any assignments, that they are flagged as zeros on Toddle and that they've been shared with students and families. We are still receiving multiple messages from students and families regarding 0s that they cannot see. This is a top priority. Thanks for your help and consistency with this.
