The creative juices were certainly flowing Friday afternoon! The chaotic nature of this event is wonderful to watch, but I certainly acknowledge that it can also feel like a lot for the advisors supervising and navigating this Advisory challenge. A big thank you to all the advisors for rallying the troops at the end of a long week and helping implement this annual tradition. They look amazing!!
ACTION ITEMS
- ED during In-Service: If you need this, please use this Google Form to let us know.
- Sunshine Notes: Please review who you have not yet sent a Sunshine Note and consider taking 5 minutes to write a quick, but thoughtful one. GLTM time this week for 6th and 7th will be given for us to collaborate and write them for certain kids. 8th grade team, we won't have a GLTM for you, so please feel free to independently do this.
- Committee Review Notes: If you haven't filled in the Committee Review for visiting students and for TtoT, please do this ASAP, especially if you have strong observations we should be aware of.
FYI
- The In-Service schedule is planned and linked in the Special Schedule doc. There will be department work time and time for updating units in Toddle. Each subject department can spend the time collaborating as they see best. So please reflect on whether your team will use this time to look at alignment across the grades, moderation of a summative, digging into how the habits are taught and assessed in your subject, IDU opportunities, connections to a Journey, etc.
myAW – Attendance Update: Sorry team, this is out of our control.... At some point in the future (no clear start date has been provided), the way we take attendance will shift – most likely without warning. Here’s what will happen:
- We will no longer have an ALL PRESENT option. As teachers, we will need to select a status for each student
- Individual student boxes will no longer default to PRESENT (MS and US only) – again, we’ll need to manually make a selection for each student.
- If our tech team has control over the order in which options appear, they will select PRESENT to go at the top, but they are unsure whether they will have that control
- Reports: The logistics of getting everyone's narratives into the system and then compiling them with the criterion reports sounds simple, but it is not. Ruth has worked a lot of hours on this and she is doing the final tweaks, so we HOPE to have this done by the end of Tuesday.
- Grade 8 Special Schedule Days: A reminder that when we return after the long weekend, Wednesday and Thursday (Feb 21 & 22) will be special schedules for all Grade 8 students and no regular classes. We are currently finalizing the schedule for these two days. Assume if you normally teach Grade 8 on either day, that you will be involved in some way with the activities being led by Heidi and Lei' La'. More to come!
