Week Beginning October 15, 2024

Thanks for your reflections on what makes a thriving classroom during in-service. If you did not hand yours in, please drop it off at the office next week so we can collate your responses and think about the focus of the up-and-coming observations.

And congrats to Dan and Linh for their knowledge of famous teachers! As we head closer to Halloween, which teacher do you resonate most with from Hogwarts?

ACTION ITEMS

  • Send Conference Email to Advisee Families: Please make sure this is done by the end of the day on Friday, October 18. Directions on how to do this can be found in the MS Conference Booking Directions for Teachers doc. If possible, please have them set to go AFTER the Friday Flash on Friday, so as not to confuse families. If you have already, no big deal!
  • Special Schedule Day: To allow us to preview the Main Stage Production, we are shortening our Core classes to 50 minutes and switching OH to before lunch to accommodate a preview at 2:30 pm on Oct 31. Please see the MS Special Schedule for more details.
  • Common Ground Faculty Survey: The Common Ground meetings will start in Q2. Please complete this Google Form to state the groups you would be willing to support. At this time, we plan on offering all the groups we did last year and if we get feedback on kids wanting others, we will add those and find more facilitators. Your responses would be very helpful in our planning ahead. Please complete this by the end of next week. Thank you!

    FYI
    • Dance Chaperons: Just a reminder that while everyone is welcome to attend, the assigned chaperons for this dance are Wagstaff, Strate, Price, V. Kelly, Cantor, Grace, Dodge, Golding, Fire, and Mazzetti.
    • Foul Language: Please be listening in your classrooms and hallways for the phrase “Hawk Tuah.” Sounds like we are having an issue with kids saying it because they don’t think teachers will know what it is. It is a reference to a viral YouTube man-on-the-street video where a young woman uses that phrase onomatopoetically when describing oral sex techniques. So please keep an ear out and address it if you hear it. Gross.
    • Shadowing: Sahara will be shadowing Nathaniel in 7A for the day.
    • Committee Review Directions: Here are the slides from Sahara's presentation for review. We will add these to the Useful Links moving forward.
    • College Care Packages: BLUE TIE CLASS OF 2024 CARDS
Each fall, we send care packages to our newly graduated students (this year, our 2024 Blue Ties!) to let them know we miss them and are thinking about them! One of the pieces that has always been so appreciated by our former students are notecards from their former teachers and friends! We know they would be thrilled to hear from you all.

While you can use your own cards, notecards and envelopes are available in the Development Office (2109-1) for you as well. There is also a basket there for you to drop off completed notes, which will be added to their package - please make sure to put the student's name on the envelope!

To help us track how many cards each student will have and which students might need a few more, please submit this form and check off the names of the students for whom you will be writing cards. We kindly ask that you return these to us by no later than Friday, November 1.

    TODDLE TIPS & TRICKS
